Worth knowing

CSD pulls from CIPC and SARS

Your CSD record is not standalone. It checks your company against the CIPC register and your tax status against SARS. An outstanding annual return or a lapsed tax status shows up on CSD as non-compliant, and a department cannot appoint you while it does.

Every registration includes

The blockers cleared first.

A CSD record that reads non-compliant is worse than none at all. We find what is failing at CIPC or SARS and fix that before registering you.

Common questions

What is the CSD?

The Central Supplier Database is the single register every organ of state uses to source suppliers. If you are not registered and verified on it, a government department cannot appoint you or pay you, however good your quote is.

Do I need a certificate or an affidavit?

Under R10 million turnover you are an exempted micro enterprise and a sworn affidavit is enough. A full verification certificate is only required above that threshold. Most small suppliers need the affidavit.

Why does my CSD record show non-compliant?

Usually because your tax status has lapsed at SARS, your banking details do not match the registered name, or your CIPC annual returns are outstanding. CSD pulls from both registers, so a problem at either one shows up there.

How long does it take?

Registration itself is quick once CIPC and SARS are clean. The delay is nearly always the cleaning up. We check both positions first and tell you honestly what stands in the way and how long that part takes.
